on being a student ( part 2 )

2hrs and counting on my textbook...
I got offline early just now around 11ish(had to bar myself from the internet. does harm to my studying momentum) after crapping with my poly friend about my new FB display picture. He said black and white made me look a ghost. WTH. 7th month leh. Anyhow.
p/s: photo booth makes me vain and pretty for a single moment. Steve Jobs must have done something magical/girly to the lens. blurry and all.
See what I mean. Sif my complexion was that perfect and helloooo, I do have dark eye rings kay. And since when did I have a pointed face?!! My face is round laaa. Moreover, my 3 week old bangs made my round face, rounder. My mum calls me 大蕃薯 (big potatao) at home. -.-
** School is making a lot of my friends(including my 2nd sis) crazy. She has morning classes, hangs out with Corinne in the afternoon, comes home by evening and goes to sleep at 8pm. Then, she wakes up around midnight, makes her way to the kitchen, eats whatever she can find, watch some teevee and then goes back to sleep. This has been going on for two days. I think she's gonna do the same tonight.
I see FB statuses/msn nicks of friends who just started a new semester in uni/freshmen/last sem etc; most statuses filled with countless of woes and rants. Seriously, for killing brain cells and endless sleepless nights cramming for exams or chiong-ing assignments, we deserve a 'HAPPY STUDENTS' DAY', don't you think? Oh c'mon. There's a Teachers' Day in the calendar, so why can't we get a special spot out of 365 days to commemorate our hard work in contributing to the future of the society? After all, at the end of the day, all the knowledge and experience we obtain during our school days are to prep us to give back to this society, no?
I feel one turns evil after the first few steps in the working world. Trust me. We all, are effing bitches. Yea maybe a higher education makes the "bitch fight" a tad more civilized but still, it is every man for himself out there. All the mindless office politics, boot-licking the bosses/colleagues for that promotion you've been eyeing on; lotsa evil thoughts run through the mind. Okay maybe 10% of nice people just don't want any trouble and are pretty comfy in the current position they are at; but, these are the 10% that easily gets trampled over by the other evil 90%!!! How do one stay truest to oneself in this fast paced, dog-eat-dog world inhumane society?
My point being, since we are all gonna somewhat "die" when we fight to stay as survivors in the reality of the cruel working world, we should cherish school life. Fine, I know the selfishness starts from jc/poly/uni; but it is still not as "bloody" as compared to a corporate world. Well, maybe some of you might disagree with me, I mean, if you love what you are doing, then it isn't work that you are working. But honestly, how many of us can find a job that we love yet not feel like we have to drag ourselves to work every morning? Maybe it's just me being bias. Well you all know how much I hated my job/working. When I meet new people and I tell them I used to work in a bank, they'll give me a "wow-you-worked-in-a-bank-what-a-good-job-confirm-highly-paid" look. FYI, working in the bank is not at all glitz and glamour and my salary is mediocre. Aiya, working is just sucky because the agenda of most people getting a good job equates to high pay; which means - SURVIVAL.
Living in ancient days seemed simpler. Exchange rice crops for chicken and pigs, want to get married just do a fertility dance(lol go watch Year One by Jack Black and Michael Cera), build our house using mud and sticks, designer underwear means awesome skin from some sheep and not Calvin Klein, writing and reading are much environmental friendly (no chopping of trees to make paper 'coz our ancestors used color from plants to draw on surfaces of caves or stones), no such thing as DIETING because everyone is all fit and well-built due to traveling solely by feet(no cars what), etc. The list can go on.
Oh darn, who am I kidding. It's no cavemen era now. But I just feel that the ancient people might be happier than us. Our ancestors got wayyy too pro in their own survival that makes us to what we are today. Surviving their survival. And damn, they came up with the word - Students and Exams.
I still hope someone will somehow create a Students' Day.
